A day after Mumbai witnessed violence at a protest against riots in Assam, peaceful life has been restored in the city. Two persons were killed while 55 others injured including 45 policemen at the violence that irrupted at Azad Maidan in South Mumbai yesterday.
Mumbaikars today woke up to a peaceful Sunday morning after the city witnessed a day of violence yesterday at a protest against riots in Assam. Thanks to the efforts of Mumbai Police who brought the situation under control within one hour to restablish routine in the city. Normalcy has been restored in the city and all means of public transport are functioning pre. The Police has held atleast 20 people in connection with the violence. There is a heavy deployment of police force near the vicinity of Azad Maidan in South Mumbai where the violence had erupted yesterday. Police sources have also said that the crime branch would probe if any inflammatory speech was made by the organisers of the protest rally at Azad Maidan and whether the vandalism was pre-meditated.
