Two-day National Seminar on 'Indian Cinema and Soft Power' was inaugurated in Mumbai today by film maker Shekhar Kapoor in presence of Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari. Speaking on this occasion, Governor Koshyari shared his experience about film watching and said today Indian Cinema is at par with Hollywood, but there is a need to learn from what Hollywood has given to the world. He said, the real power lies in the culture and there is a need to value and encourage it. The Governor said, Indian epics like Mahabharata and Ramayana are classic examples that have so many stories to tell.<br />''<br />''Echoing his thoughts Mr Kapoor said, India can develop games based on Mahabharata and Ramayana and get teens and youths involved in it, as a large percentage of the younger folk spend a lot of time on games and social media. He said, western world's influence has gone down and India has an opportunity to spread its influence.<br />''<br />''The Indian Council for Cultural Relations and FLAME University has organized the two-day seminar. It aims to deliberate about the potential of Indian Cinema in movie making and policy design to further cultivate cultural sensitivities towards India. The discussions will revolve around themes such as cinematic colonialism, global influence of Indian cinematic music, regional cinema and its global influence, adoption of advanced technology, and using the medium of Indian cinema to spread the idea of India in foreign nations. The valedictory session of the event will be presided over by Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur tomorrow. <br />''<br />
