Mumbai Trains delayed as signal panel catches fire

Train Services on the suburban branch of Central Railway in Mumbai are running late by 1 hour following an outbreak of fire at a signalling panel between Vidyavihar and Kurla stations on the main line after midnight yesterday.Central Railway spokesperson, VA Malegaonkar said in Mumbai today that the fire was brought under control immediately after midnight. However, it caused damage to signalling equipment delaying local train services by 45 minutes to 1 hour. Work is in progress to repair the signalling panel and train services will be fully restored within the next two to three days. The BEST in Mumbai is running 134 additional buses for the convenience of commuters. Mumbai University students affected by train disruptions will be given extra time for their exams today
