Mumbai's two-day-old local train crisis on the Central line has claimed three lives. A Central Railway press release stated that three people died and ten were injured after they fell from a local train between Nahur and Bhandup stations on central railway line in Mumbai this morning during heavy rush. Speaking to AIR, Central Railway PRO Mr. A K Singh said that the train originating from Badlapur was going towards Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus (CST) when the incident took place around 9am this morning. He said that the possible reason of the incident could be overcrowding. Mr. Singh also informed that the injured have been admitted to Rajawadi hospital.Minister for Railways Mukul Roy has expressed deep concern over the incident and has extended the condolences to the bereaved families. The Minister has announced an ex-gratia payment of 2 lakhs rupees to the next of kin of those killed in the accident.AIR Mumbai correspondent reports that lakhs of suburban train commuters in Mumbai are facing inconvenience since yesterday as services on the Central Railway (CR) line were thrown out of gear following a fire in a signal cabin between Kurla and Vidyavihar stations on Tuesday night causing heavy damage to signaling gears. Meanwhile the Central Railway has announced that train services are expected to be fully restored by tomorrow.
