Mumbai Sessions Court rejects a plea filed by Malegaon bomb blast accused

The Sessions Court in Mumbai has rejected a plea filed by the nine accused in the 2006 Malegaon bomb blast case to transfer the matter to another court. Principal Sessions Judge Sapna Joshi, while rejecting the plea, pointed out that defence had not justified its grounds for the transfer and said the case will continue in the designated court, presided over by Judge Y.D. Shinde till the High Court assigned any other court for their trial. In an application moved last week, the accused contended that their case should not be tried before Designated Maharashtra Control of Organized Crime Act Judge Y.D. Shinde as the same court had earlier turned down their bail plea, moved on the basis of the confessional statement of Mecca Masjid blast accused Swami Aseemanand.
