Polling for the third and final phase for 19 Lok Sabha seats in Maharashtra is going on. Contrary to earlier times, this time Mumbai saw a good number of voters turn out in almost all the 6 constituencies.
Celebrities and politician are turning up to cast their votes at polling booths in Mumbai.
Our correspondent reports that voting is going on peacefully.Top industrialists, businessmen, film stars and socialites are flocking in to exercise their franchise alongside slumdwellers, tribals, fishermen and migrants. Reliance head honcho Anil Ambani was among early voters at a polling station in Cuffe Parade in South Mumbai.
Cricketer Sachin Tendulkar also cast his vote in Mumbai. Other celebrities like Aamir Khan, Dharmendra, Rekha, Farhan Akhtar ,Vidya Balan , Priety Zinta, John Abraham and Sonam Kapoor turned up early at voting booths.
Prominent politicians who voted in the morning hours were NCP Chief Sharad Pawar, who voted for the first time in Mumbai, MNS chief Raj Thackeray and BJP candidate Poonam Mahajan.
Congress candidates Priya Dutt and Milind deora too turned up early at their respective polling booths. Adequate security arrangements have been made to ensure a peaceful and fair polling. About one lakh security personnel are on poll duty today.
