Incessant heavy rains have been lashing Mumbai and parts of its suburbs since 9 am this morning. According to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), during 24 hours ending at 8.30 this morning, Mumbai city has recorded 39.58 mm rainfall; eastern suburbs have recorded 99.77 mm.Meanwhile, fishermen across the state have been advised not to go out in the sea during next 24 hours as sea will be rough to very rough. According to the MET department, intermittent rain or showers would occur in parts of city and suburbs. Heavy rain accompanied by strong gusty winds is also likely to occur in some areas.Other parts of Maharashtra including Pune, Kolhapur, Nasik, Satara, Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg and Raigad are receiving heavy rainfall since this morning. The normal life has been badly affected in Kolhapur, Raigad, Ratnagiri and Sindhurdurg districts due to several days of incessant rainfall. Several rivers in these areas have started overflowing affecting both rail and road traffic. Trains services have been largely affected on the Konkan route due to heavy rains. 7 trains on this route scheduled for today and tomorrow have been cancelled after the ground under the track caved in near Nivsar station. Konkan Railway route between Ratnagiri and Aaravli has also been closed. Arrangement of ST buses has been made for the stranded commuters. Meanwhile, south west monsoon has been active in most parts of north India. According to the Met department rain and thundershowers will occur at many places in Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana and some places in Jammu and Kashmir. The weathermen warn of isolated heavy rainfall in east Uttar Pradesh and south Rajasthan during the next 48 hours.In the national capital high humidity level has made the weather unpleasant. The humidity levels oscillated between 61 and 88 percent in the morning. The Met department predicts sky to remain generally cloudy with rain and thundershowers in some areas. The maximum and minimum temperature will be around 35 and 28 degrees.
