Mumbai Rains: Intermittent heavy showers continue in several areas, local trains delayed

In Maharashtra, Mumbai and neighbouring Palghar and Thane districts are witnessing heavy rains since last night. Due to intermittent heavy showers, Central and Harbour Suburban Railway trains were running late. Normal life was disrupted in Palghar and Thane districts due to waterlogging at many places. IMD has predicted very heavy rain in Mumbai and Thane within the next few hours.<br />'' <br />'' AIR correspondent reports that heavy rain lashed Mumbai and neighbouring Palghar and Thane districts since last night. But, there was some respite in the morning and the Railway services were partially affected in the morning as there was no waterlogging on railway tracks. Trains on Central and Harbour Railway are running late by five to ten minutes. Waterlogging was witnessed at Andheri Subway and some other low-lying areas like Kurla, Sion, Matunga, and Parel in Mumbai. Heavy waterlogging was witnessed in Virar, Vasai in Palghar District and a holiday was declared in schools in these areas and markets were closed since morning. Waterlogging disrupted normal life in Bhivandi and other parts of Thane district.<br />'' <br />'' IMD official K. S. Hosalikar has said that North Konkan and adjoining areas are very likely to receive some intense spells of rains including Mumbai and Thane for the next two to three hours. In other parts of Maharashtra, all the precautionary measures are in its place and total 17 NDRF teams have been deployed in various districts including five in Mumbai.<br />'' <br />''Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has reviewed the preparedness of the concerned agencies and directed them to do all the necessary arrangements in flood-affected areas.
