Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan today said that Mumbai police should not be undermined and be given a fair chance to investigate the killing of veteran journalist Jyotirmoy Dey. Mr. Chavan was speaking to reporters in Mumbai. Stating that Mumbai police will get to the bottom of the case, he said that some time should be given to the Mumbai police to investigate into the matter. Mr Chavan also said that he had a meeting with senior police officers on Monday afternoon, during which the officers said to him that the investigations are proceeding. He said that on Monday night, he came to know that there was more progress in the case and they hoped to catch the culprit soon. Dey was shot dead by four unidentified assailants riding motorcycles while he was riding his motorcycle near his residence in Powai on Saturday afternoon.
