Mumbai police have booked the owner and crew members of the sunken vessel MV Rak under the Environment (Protection) Act and Water (Protection and Control of Pollution) Act.According to police sources, the accused have been booked for causing water pollution due to oil spilling from the sunken vessel.The city police had already registered an FIR against the owner, captain and crew members on Friday following the sinking of the MV Rak some 20 nautical miles off the Mumbai coast the previous day. However, Captain Arkan Abdul Khalik Yunus and chief engineer Ioneseu Ion were released on bail after their arrest.The cargo-laden vessel, which was on its way from Indonesia to Gujarat with 60,000 tonnes of coal, had a 30-member crew of several nationalities who were rescued, before it sank last Thursday.About 80 to 100 tonnes of oil had leaked from the vessel into the Arabian Sea.
