Mumbai offering goodbyes to Lord Ganesh today

Mumbai will offer their goodbyes today to the Ganesh idols placed for period of one and a half days. Mumbai welcomed Ganesh Chaturthi in a grand manner on Saturday. This festival is also known as Vinayak Chaturthi and is celebrated for a period of ten days and on the last day that is Anant Chaturdashi the idols are finally immersed in sea. For the next ten days, Lord Ganesha is offered sweets, modaks and is decorated in flowers. In several places in Mumbai, people woke up early in the morning to offer prayers to the lord. Homes in the city bore a traditional look with the sounds of traditional aarti. The idols are placed a period of one and a half day, five , seven or ten days respectively. Many ganpati pandals have created huge structures with certain themes to provide a unique look to the idols. Long lines of devotees can be seen at some of the most famous ganesh pandals like the Lalbaugcha raja, Andhericha raja, GSB ganapati, respectively.
