Considering the holidays for Holi and Good Friday falling in the last week of March and the huge rush to pay advance tax, the Income Tax offices in Mumbai will function on Saturday, 30th March and Sunday, 31st March, to enable tax payers and assessees to file their returns on time. This decision has been taken by the Central Board of Direct Taxes and the offices will be open from 9.30 a.m.- 6 p.m. The IT department has also urged all taxpayers who have defaulted on payment to immediately come forward and pay the taxes before 31st March, 2013. Meanwhile, RBI has also asked agency banks conducting Government business to keep the counters of their designated branches open on March 29th, 30th and 31st to facilitate receipt of taxes.
