Mumbai hospitals flood with Malaria cases

In Mumbai, hospitals have been registering escalating cases of Malaria patients. Nearly 3000 to 5000 patients suffering from the disease are admitted in various civic run and private hospitals. According to BMC official around 45,000 people have tested positive for the disease so far. Meanwhile, the city has also witnessed 33 deaths all together from January this year with 22 deaths occurring between June and August. A BMC official informed AIR today that in order to contain the menace, the Brihamumbai Municipal Corporation would be issuing health card to workers working at various construction sites. The card will be prepared by a thorough medical checkup of the workers and their medical history would be recorded. According to BMC official nearly 2 lakh workers work on various construction sites in the city and the civic department have urged various builders and developers to appoint supervisors who would work with the civic health officials to ease the process.
