The two accused in the Mumbai photojournalist gang-rape case have been sent to police custody till next Friday. The two accused identified as Vijay Jadhav and Chand Abdul Sattar were produced before the Bhoiwada magistrate court today. Jadhav a resident from Dombivli near Thane district was arrested late night yesterday from a video parlour in Mumbai’s Madanpura area, while the first arrest was made on Friday morning at Dhobighat area in Central Mumbai. Arrested Chand Abdul Sattar had confessed his crime. The police say, a massive hunt is on for the remaining three suspects and they will be arrested soon.
Maharashtra Home Minister visited the N. M. Joshi Marg police station in central Mumbai to review the progress made in the investigations of this case.
The brutal incident took place on Thursday evening in a deserted textile mill in central Mumbai. The victim is undergoing treatment at the Jaslok hospital in Mumbai and stated to be stable.
Meanwhile, the Mumbai rape victim has demanded strictest punishment for all the accused. The 22 year old photo journalist told this to a member of the National Commission for Women Nirmala Samant Prabhawalkar, who met her at Jaslok Hospital, where she is convalescing. Prabhawalkar said the victim feel outraged but told her that rape is not the end of life and she wants to join duty as early as possible. She said, the victim is still not completely out of trauma but she is composed.
