Mumbai: Function to lay foundation stone of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar statue postponed

<span style="color: #222222;">The function to lay the foundation stone for a grand statue of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar in Mumbai was postponed today after Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray said the function requires the presence of dignitaries from all political parties and related organisations. In a tweet, Mr. Thackeray said that each and every citizen desires to have a grand statue of Dr. Ambedkar at the Indu Mill compound and accordingly, the planning has also been done.</span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">Stating that the issue must not be politicised, Mr. Thackeray said he has directed the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority to prepare a new schedule for the pilling ceremony and to invite all necessary dignitaries for the function.</span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">The grand 350 feet statue is expected to be built on a 100 feet platform at a cost of over one thousand crore rupees. Even though Prime Minister Narendra Modi had performed the ground-breaking ritual at the memorial site in December 2016, work has not been started.</span><br />
