Mumbai Doctors on indefinite strike

Nearly 450 resident doctors at civic-run Sion hospital in Mumbai are on an indefinite strike since on Thursday. The strike started after relatives of a 10-month-old girl, who died in the hospital on Wednesday night. They allegedly manhandled a doctor on duty. Resident doctors attached to the Maharashtra Association of Resident Doctors (MARD) -have also joined the strike on Friday.These include 750 doctors of KEM, 500 of Nair and 450 doctors from JJ hospital. Medical Services have been due to the strike in the hospitals. The resident doctors on strike are now demanding better security, to avert such incidents in the future. Meanwhile representatives of MARD and the state government are holding a meeting today to discuss the issue.
