Mumbai Crime Branch questions Gurunath Meiyappan for several hours

Mumbai Crime Branch questioned Chennai Super Kings owner Gurunath Meiyappan for several hours after his arrest on Friday night in IPL betting scandal. Police said in Mumbai, Meiyappan has been evasive and non-cooperative during interrogation.

Meiyappan, son-in-law of BCCI President N Srinivasan, was taken to Mumbai Crime Branch headquarters after his arrival from Madurai by a chartered aircraft in Friday evening. His arrest was announced by Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) Himanshu Roy at around midnight on Friday night.

Gurunath had been summoned by Mumbai Police for questioning after his name cropped up in the betting scandal following arrest of actor Vindoo Dara Singh on May 21.

He was produced in a Mumbai court today.
