The court proceedings have begun at the special court, which will pronounce its verdict today on the fate of lone surviving 26/11 gunman Ajmal Kasab and two alleged Indian conspirators, Faheem Ansari and Sabauddin Ahmed. Judge M L Tahiliyani is reading out charges against Kasab, Ansari and Ahmed. Earlier, amidst tight security arrangements, special judge M L Tahilyani, special Public Prosecutor Ujwal Nikkam, Kasab’s lawyer K.P. Pawar, Ansari’s lawyer R.B. Mokashi, and Ahmed’s lawyer Ejaz Naqvi reached the Arthur road jail in Mumbai where the judge will pronounce verdict in the most awaited 26/11 Mumbai terror attack case. The special court is situated inside the Arthur Road jail. Kasab was brought to court, escorted by 10-12 jawans. The other two accused Fahim Ansari and Sabahuddin Ahmed too were present in the court. Kasab has been charged under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, including waging war against the nation. He also faces charges under the Explosives Act, Arms Act, Passport Act, Prevention of Damage to Public Properties Act, Customs Act, Explosive Substances Act, Bombay Police Act, Foreigners Act, Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act. The special court has recorded more than 3,000 pages of evidence after examining nearly 296 witnesses since it was set up. The two Indian co-accused have been charged with conspiracy in the terror attacks by preparing maps of the targeted locations and handing these to LeT operatives. A thick security blanket has been thrown in and around Arthur Road Jail. Checkposts have been set up at strategic points along the Sane Guruji Marg which leads to the prison near Saat Rasta in south Mumbai. Patrolling has been intensified and sand bunkers have been erected behind which armed policemen are standing guard round-the-clock.<br/>
