The Enforcement Directorate has produced the Pune businessman Hasan Ali Khan before a Mumbai court on Tuesday. The court remanded him to the ED custody for one day. AIR correspondent reports, Pune-based stud farm owner Hasan Ali Khan claimed innocence before a sessions court in Mumbai on Tuesday which remanded him to one day Enforcement Directorate custody that ends today. Principal Judge M L Tahaliyani, while hearing ED’s plea remarked that the case was outside his jurisdiction. Public prosecutor N Punde, however, said that under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act, a special court was empowered to conduct the proceedings and hence he had the jurisdiction. Hasan Ali’s defence lawyer I P Bagadia too concurred with this view, but the court adjourned the hearing till today after handing over Khan’s remand to the ED. Hasan Ali pleaded his innocence before the court and filed an application through his counsel who said he wanted to retract his confessions made before ED investigators on Monday.
