New Year celebrations were held in Mumbai in a lavish and grand style. The city put on a festive look last night to welcome the New Year and fire crackers were burst to commemorate the New Year celebrations. Public Hotspots like Gateway of India, Marine Drive and Juhu Beach witnessed a heavy turnout and traffic restrictions were put on place in the city yesterday.The Mumbai Police patrolled the city’s streets all through last night and ensured safety and security of Mumbaikars. Special anti-eve teasing squads were also stationed in sensitive areas for women’s safety. The Central and Western Railways are running special local train services today for the convenience of commuters.
