In Mumbai Dahi Handi festival is being celebrated with traditional joy and fervour today. Hundreds of Govinda mandals will be participating in the dahi handi events at various places in the city where human pyramids are formed to reach pots containing dahi and cash prizes tied at tall heights.The Dahi Handis this year are said to be worth crore of rupees. Several film personalities are also expected to be present at Govinda Pandals in the city to cheer up the Govindas.Mumbai is immersed in the chanting of 'Govinda Ala re' to mark the birth of Lord Shri Krishna. Security and vigil has been stepped up in Mumbai to avoid any untoward incident. The Mumbai Police has also instructed all Dahi Handi Pandal organisers on mandatory safety precautions to be implemented during the celebrations.
