Mumbai and parts of its suburbs continued to receive incessant rainfall for the second consecutive day today disrupting road and rail traffic in the city. According to Met department, Colaba recorded 165.2 mm of rainfall and Santacruz received 191 mm of rainfall from 8.30 am on Thursday to 11.30 am today. Commuters are facing inconvenience since morning as trains on Central and Western Railway are running 15 to 30 minutes late while rail services on Harbour route have been largely affected due to water logging on tracks between Mankhurd and Govandi station. Water logging has also affected the movement of road traffic in several parts of the city including Western and Eastern express highway. Flight operations at Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport were also affected in the morning due to intermittent rainfall. A Mumbai International Airport Limited (MIAL) spokesperson said that due to sudden drop in visibility of 300 mtrs, all flight operations were suspended at the city’s international airport between 10 to 10.17 am. Several incidents of tree falling were also reported in some areas of the city. According to the weather bureau forecast, intermittent rain or showers would occur in parts of city and suburbs with heavy to very heavy rains in some areas.
