Multiplexes in Mumbai reopen advance booking of SRK film "My Name is Khan"

Raj Thackeray not to disrupt screening of "My Name is Khan"; Multiplexes start Advance booking

In a new twist to the ongoing political tussle over 'My Name Is Khan', Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray said that his party would not disrupt the screening of the film starring Shahrukh Khan. He was addressing a press conference in Mumbai today.

Referring to Shahrukh Khan's remarks on Pakistani players' inclusion in the IPL and slamming his rival Shiv Sena, Raj said that this is not an issue to protest on the streets. He said his party will only protest if it is in interest of Marathis. Slamming the Shiv Sena for showing double standards, Raj said why is the Shiv Sena only targeting Shahrukh Khan while it is remaining silent on other prominent citizens such as Amitabh Bachchan, who is currently participating in a concert 'Aman ki Asha' with Pakistani artistes.

He also criticised Shahrukh Khan saying it was strange that the actor who has been vocal about his support for Pakistani players, has none playing in his IPL team 'Kolkata Knight Riders'. At least 1600 Shiv Sena supporters were taken into preventive custody along with 59 major arrests by Mumbai police yesterday to prevent attack on the theatres screening Shahrukh’s film.

Meanwhile theatres opened the advance bookings of the film after the police cracked down on the Shiv Sena protestors and threw a security cloak around the theatres and multiplexes.
