<span style="color: #222222;">BJP national spokesperson Aparajita Sarangi has said that multiple elections put a lot of burden on the state exchequer. <br />''<br />''Addressing a press meet in Bhubaneswar in Odisha a short while ago, Ms. Sarangi said that the election related expenditure has increased many folds from about 11 crore rupees in 1951 to about 60 thousand crore rupees in the 2019 General Elections. <br />''<br />''Making references to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of One Nation, One Election, she detailed out a number of adverse fallouts of multiple elections. She said, the conduct of  frequent elections and the imposition of the model code of conduct lead to disruptions in the developmental works and cause policy paralysis. <br />''<br />''Batting for parallel elections, the spokesperson said  it will check black money generation, beside easing the burden on the security forces and the teachers deployed on election duties. She also said there should be a single voters' list both for the state assembly and the general elections. </span><br />
