In the Mullapperiyar dam case between Kerala and Tamil Nadu, the Empowered Committee appointed by the Supreme Court, held a meeting today in Delhi.At the same time, Kerala Government has approached the Committee against the Expert Team that visited the dam for safety inspection last week.Based on legal advice, Kerala also raised objection to the manner in which the team behaved with senior technical officials of the state.In the Mullaperiyar dam safety issue between Kerala and Tamil Nadu despite central efforts to persuade both states for official level talks, legal tussle is continuing. Kerala government has complained to the empowered committee appointed by the apex court that expert team that visited the dam recently did not heed to the views of the state on frequent tremors and safety of the dam.At the same time, the water level of the dam has come down from 136 to 125 feet during the last few weeks.Tamil Nadu is drawing almost double the quantity of water than the inflow into the dam. A high level meeting of district collectors of Idukki and Theni in Tamil Nadu was held today to further streamline transport between the states.
