As per a recent resolution passed by the State Assembly, Kerala is asking for immediate reduction of the water level of the dam to 120 feet on safety grounds and construction of a new dam in place of the existing one.In Tamil Nadu, DMK President and former Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi in the meantime sought an amicable solution on the issue of Mullaperiyar dam.
