<br/>In Uttar Pradesh unconditional apology of Samajwadi Party Chief Mulayam Singh Yadav to Muslim Community for aligning with those responsible for Ayodhya disputed structure demolition, has triggered strong reactions from different political parties including Congress, BJP and former BJP leader Kalyan Singh.<br/><br/>Mr. Kalyan Singh has said that it was a desperate attempt to appease Muslims. He has said that Mr Yadav should apologise to backwards. Terming Mr. Yadav as communal by his political designs, Mr. Singh said the SP president always worked against the sentiments of Hindus for the sake of his vote bank. He has said that there has been a long history of Mulayam Singh backstabbing others and this is another testimony of this fact. He has said the Samajwadi Party could never return to power as Muslims and the backward classes had drifted away from it.<br/><br/>The ruling Bahujan Samaj Party President Chief Minister Mayawati has said that apology tendered by the SP supremo is simply a political stunt and nothing else. In a statement issued at Lucknow she has said that there was big tradition of Mulayam Singh Yadav for having alliance with communal forces and Muslim community has not forgotten that.<br/><br/>State Congress president Rita Bahuguna Joshi has termed Mulayam Singh Yadav as an opportunistic and said he has been exposed and people know his real face. Talking to media persons at Lucknow Dr. Joshi said such statements were just a desperate attempt by Mr. Yadav to revive its declining vote bank. She said both BSP and SP had only done politics of caste and community and encouraged crime and criminals during their regime.<br/><br/>Terming the apology as an opportunism and politics for power the Bharatiya Janata Party state President Surya Pratap Shahi has said that Mr. Yadav is favouring fundamentalists. Mr. Shahi has said that Mulayam government had been unpopular due to his anti people policies.<br/><br/>SP supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav regretted taking support of those responsible for the Babri mosque demolition and sought pardon of the community. In a statement issued in Lucknow, he said, in the last Lok Sabha polls, he had to take support of some wrong elements to keep communal forces at bay from forming government at the Centre. He has said that whatever he has done will not be repeated and he will continue to raise voice in favour of the Muslim community. Mr. Yadav said that his life was an open book of struggle against communal forces.
