Samajwadi Party president Mulayam Singh Yadav will be the new Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh.

He was formally elected leader of the legislative party at a meeting of party's parliamentary board.

He will meet governor to stake claim for formation of new government in the state.

Meeting of parliamentary board of the party held today in Lucknow. The Samajwadi party which stormed to power in the state has won 224 seats.
