Mulayam Singh Yadav arrives in Delhi to meet EC over retaining party's election symbol

The family feud of Samajwadi Party has reached New Delhi with party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav arriving in the capital to meet Election Commission over retaining party's election symbol. Mr Yadav is likely to meet EC in the afternoon and claim that his faction is the real Samajwadi Party and as such, should be allowed to use the cycle symbol. <br/><br/>Reports say Rajya Sabha MP Amar Singh is holding a meeting with Mr Yadav at his residence in Delhi over the political storm in the party. <br/><br/>AIR correspondent reports that Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav was yesterday made National President of the party at a specially convened convention at Lucknow, while his father was declared patron. However, Mr Mulayam Singh Yadav called this convention unconstitutional and nullified its proceedings.<br/><br/>In another development, he also postponed the January 5 emergency convention called by him yesterday. No fresh date has been announced for the convention.
