Mukul Sangma to be sworn in as Meghalaya CM today

Congress leader Dr Mukul Sangma will be sworn in as the 20th chief minister of Meghalaya on Tuesday. <br/> <br/>Dr Mukul Sangma who was the deputy chief minister has been elevated to the post of chief minister after 21 of the 28 MLAs opposed Dr D D Lapang’s leadership.<br/> <br/>Dr Mukul Sangma was born in 20th April 1965 in West Garo hills district and joined in active politics in 1993 giving up his MBBS profession.<br/> <br/>Dr Mukul Sangma has been elected as the leader of the CLP last night in presence of AICC observers Mr. Faleiro and Oscar Fernandes. Dr Sangma has also been elected as the leader of the Meghalaya United Alliance (MUA) by its constituent last night in Shillong. <br/> <br/>The outgoing chief minister Dr D D Lapang submitting his resignation said he respects the decision of majority in the party and would work with the party though he does not have any position. He said there was not dissidence among the party members of course there are differences in opinion which does not mean that they would burn their own house. <br/> <br/>The eleven month old Congress led Meghalaya United Alliance government came into power when the less than a year old NCP- UDP combine government dissolve after the 2008 assembly poll.<br/>
