Mukesh Ambani-led Reliance Industries has denied allegations made by Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal regarding the pricing of gas. In a statement issued yesterday, the company said the direction of the Delhi government to order registration of an FIR in relation to the Union Cabinet's decision to revise the price of gas is shocking. Reliance said, it will resort to available legal remedies to protect the reputation of the company and preserve the investment made by it. The Delhi Government yesterday asked its Anti Corruption Branch to file criminal cases against Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Virappa Moily, former Union Minister Murli Deora, Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani and others in connection with the alleged irregularities in gas pricing. Addressing a press conference in New Delhi yesterday, Mr Kejriwal said the Anti-corruption branch has also been asked to register a case against former Director General of Hydrocarbons VK Sibal. Mr. Moily has also rejected Mr. Kejriwal's allegations saying the price fixing of petroleum products is not done arbitrarily but on the basis of expert advice. Congress has said that it is not against any probe into gas pricing issue but it should not be politically motivated. Party General Secretary Ajay Maken said the inquiry must be under the ambit of Constitution. CPI leader Gurudas Dasgupta has welcomed the Delhi Government's move to file criminal cases. He said, the government's decision to hike gas prices will seriously affect the power and fertilizer sectors. The BJP has accused Mr. Kejriwal of deriving political mileage out of the issue. Delhi BJP President Vijay Goel said that Kejriwal Government is ignoring peoples' problems.
