US says Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi needs to step down and leave the country. The US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton told reporters at a joint press conference in Washington with her Italian counterpart Franco Frattini that Gaddafi's forces need to withdraw from the cities that they have forcibly taken at great violence andhuman cost. The two leaders discussed current situation in Libya and the possibility of exile of Gaddafi during their meeting.
