<span style="color: #222222;">Renowned agriculture scientist Dr MS Swaminathan has lauded the Centre's flagship programme Poshan Abhiyan. It aims at improving nutrition status of children, adolescents, pregnant women and lactating mothers. Dr Swaminathan, who is credited with the success of the Green Revolution in India, told our Chennai correspondent that it is time to shift focus from food security to nutrition security. He said to achieve a healthy and strong society, it is essential to ensure enough intake of calories and consumption of more pulses to boost protein levels. There is also a need to pay due attention to hidden hunger caused by less intake of micronutrients, and ensure safe drinking water and spread awareness about balanced nutrition.<br />''</span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">India as a growing economy is registering impressive strides in eliminating hunger. However, the lack of enough nutrition leads to hidden hunger, and to avoid the problem, the Nutrition Mission is being implemented. Statistics indicate, about 66-crore people have been benefitted so far. Tamil Nadu earned first place in the overall excellence in its implementation and also in the category of capacity building for last year. The administration has said, the state is set to free itself from the clutches of malnutrition within the next three years, by leveraging the national mission.</span><br />
