External Affairs minister Sushma Swaraj has expressed hope that India will get membership in the Nuclear Suppliers Group (NSG) by the end of this year. <br/><br/>Addressing the annual media briefing in New Delhi today, Mrs Swaraj said China is not opposing India's membership bid, and it is only talking of criteria and procedure. She also said India does not oppose Pakistan's membership, but there must be credentials for this. <br/><br/>Mrs Swaraj said clean energy need is what is spurring India's membership bid this year. The Minister informed that consensus is growing for India's membership and she has personally spoken to 23 countries for this.<br/><br/>Reiterating that India's ties with Africa is very strong, Mrs Swaraj said India's interaction with African countries has increased manifold. <br/><br/>She said talks were held with 140 nations last year and India will reach to all the nations by December 2016. <br/><br/>She informed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has visited many western countries. The minister said Prime Minister and herself visited all SAARC nations. <br/><br/>Mrs Swaraj said FDI is the key focus during all the foreign visits. She informed during 2015-16, 55 billion US dollar (3 lakh 69 thousand crore rupees) FDI has come to India, which is 43 per cent increase compared to UPA time. <br/><br/>On foreign secretary level talks between India and Pakistan, she said it has not been canceled but India is only awaiting probe from Pakistan side on Pathankot attack.<br/><br/>Saying that international ties have improved in two years, the External Affairs Minister said India has inked several pacts for Skill India. Mrs Swaraj said her ministry managed to extract many Indians from Iraq and Syria. <br/><br/>She also informed that lot of improvement has been made in the passport service and passport offices have been opened in all the North Eastern states. <br/><br/>She said 98 lakh passports were issued last year, which is much more than during UPA time.
