M'rashtra Govt. targeting 250,000 crore investment , half million jobs says Governor

Addressing a joint session of the Maharashtra legislature Governor S.C. Jamir said that the newly-elected Democratic Front government is targeting investments of Rs.250,000 crore in Maharashtra and creating half a million jobs over the next five years.He further said that the government would promote the IT and IT-enabled services sector in cities like Aurangabad, Nashik and Nagpur, besides the backward regions.<br/><br/>The governor said safety and security of the common citizens would remain the primary concern of the government. He added that the government would improve infrastructure in all cities under the aegis of the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission and Urban Infrastructure Development Scheme. He listed various measures the government has initiated, for security including restructuring and equipping the police force, setting up quick response teams, the Force 1, an elite force designed on the lines of the National Security Guard, and intensifying coastal security.<br/><br/>On the last day of the special session, the MNS today sought revoking of the four year suspension of four of its MLAs, saying it had already apologised for any "disrespect" caused to a woman MLA during Monday's altercation in the Maharashtra assembly but made no mention to the assault on SP member Abu Asim Azmi.MNS group leader Bala Nandgaonkar said the suspension should be revoked or at least the tenure of suspension reduced.<br/><br/>Meanwhile the Protem Speaker of the Maharashtra Assembly, Ganpatrao Deshmukh today ordered an inquiry into the behavior of Samajwadi Party legislator Abu Asim Azmi in the assembly and in its premises. Deshmukh made the announcement following repeated demands by opposition members, who alleged that Azmi had made provocative speeches and had insulted Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray.
