Parliamentary Affairs Minister M. Venkaiah Naidu today called for a Central law to stop forced conversions. He said if the state governments are unable to tackle the issue, centre should take the lead in bringing in a law. Mr Naidu was reacting to recent reports of
re-conversions.
Yesterday, RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat had asked the opposition parties to support a law banning religious conversion. The incidents of conversions in Uttar Pradesh had caused a furore in Parliament leading to almost wash out of the proceedings in the Rajya Sabha.
