Both the Houses of Parliament witnessed unprecedented violent scenes over Telengana issue today leading to the suspension of 16 members from Andhra Pradesh. The Speaker said that they have been suspended for five consecutive sittings for creating disorder and wilfully obstructing the business in the House. Of them ten belong to the Congress, four to TDP and two to YSR-Congress.
Soon after the proceedings began this morning, pro and anti-Telengana members came to physical blows triggered by speculation that the government was introducing the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Bill in the House at noon. As the House re-assembled at noon, members from both Seeamandhra and Telengana regions trooped into the well. Even before Speaker could settle down to take up the listed business, members from Telangana region prevented TDP member M Venugopal Reddy from going close to the Chair. MPs from Telangana region pounced on him resulting in his fall and other members from Seeamandhra in no time caming to his rescue. L Rajgopal of Congress rushed towards Venugopal Reddy and all of a sudden started spraying some chemical randomly. This instantly caused suffocation, leading to severe breathing problem and eye-burn to many members. Two members were injured. As a result, MPs started leaving the house in panic even before Speaker could adjourn the House.
The Rajya Sabha, also witnessed unruly scenes leading to its adjournment for the day. Both the Houses will now meet on Monday.
