Members of Parliament and legislators from the Telangana region of Andhra Pradesh today resigned en-masse pressing for an early decision on the issue of separate statehood for Telegana. In Delhi, seven Congress MPs met Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar and handed over their resignation letters along with that of two other MPs who could not be present. Rajya Sabha member K Keshav Rao met the Officer on Special Duty to Chairman Hamid Ansari and submitted his resignation. Meanwhile, Home Minister P Chidambaram today said the consultation process is continuing on the Telangana Statehood demand and a final decision on the issue will be taken only when it will be over. Talking to the media in New Delhi, Home Minister P Chidambaram said, it is an extremely sensitive and complex issue. He appealed to the MLAs, one Rajya Sabha MP and Andhra Pradesh Ministers from the Telangana region to be patient. He said, the party is in constant touch with the Telangana leaders. In Andhra Pradesh, over 80 legislators including 11 State Ministers today tendered their resignations pressing for statehood for Telangana. The ruling congress legislators from Telangana region including Ministers sent their resignation papers to the Deputy Speaker Vikramarka this morning. So far, 11 Ministers and 26 MLAs of ruling Congress party have put in their papers while 12 MLCs also resigned. Thirty three legislators of the opposition Telugu Desam Party from the region have also resigned after their Congress counterparts tendered resignations. Our Hyderabad correspondent reports, the en-mass resignations are still continuing with both ruling Congress and Opposition Telugu Desam party legislators sending their papers by hand and by fax to the office of the Deputy Speaker.
