The BJP and JD(U) MPs on Tuesday staged a demonstration in Parliament House complex alleging discrimination against Bihar by the Centre and demanded special status for the state. The demonstration, held on Bihar Diwas, was led by JD(U) President Sharad Yadav. It comprised of BJP leaders Hukumdeo Narayan Yadav, Shahnawaz Hussain, Shatrughan Sinha, Rajiv Pratap Singh Rudy, and JD(U) MP, N K Singh.The MPs assembled at the Mahatma Gandhi statue in the complex and raised slogans. Talking to reporters later, Sharad Yadav said, after the division of Bihar the condition of the state has deteriorated. He alleged that a special package was promised then but never given. The delegation also met the Lok Sabha Speaker Mrs. Meira Kumar and demanded that she take up their cause with the Centre. BJP MPs from Madhya Pradesh, led by Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha Mrs. Sushma Swaraj, also held a protest demonstration at the Gandhi statue against Centre's alleged apathy towards the state. The MPs were also protesting the Centre's alleged step-brotherly treatment to the state be it in generation of power or building of roads.
