MPs express serious concern over atrocities on women in Delhi

Members in the Rajya Sabha cutting across party lines on Wednesday expressed serious concern over atrocities on women in Delhi. Raising the issue during the Zero Hour, Mrs. Maya Singh of BJP referred to the murder of a Delhi University girl student in the capital on International Women's Day on Tuesday. She said there is apprehension among women that the capital is not safe for them. The Leader of Opposition, Mr Arun Jaitley said it was a serious matter and the government should respond to it. In the Lok Sabha, BJP demanded a statement from the government on the day light murder of a college girl in Delhi on International Women Day. When the Lok Sabha met for the day, senior Party leader Shahnawaj Hussain while raising the issue in Lok Sabha said that Delhi Chief Minister also admitted that the law and order situation in Delhi is deteriorating. The Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs V Narayansamy responded and said that the concerns of the members will be conveyed to the Home Minister.
