In Madhya Pradesh, police used force and lobbed tear gas to disperse the gas victims who were trying to stop trains at Bhopal ‘s Aishbagh Railway crossing today. Police said observance of the 27th anniversary of the Bhopal gas disaster took a violent turn with a number of people, including two senior district officials injured in stone pelting. They said four police jeeps and a dozen motorcycles were set on fire during the agitation. A police jeep and an OB van of a news channel were damaged in stone pelting.The agitators resorted to rail blockade at Barkhedi, Aishbagh and Chhola Road railway crossings and squatted on the tracks, disrupting traffic on the busy Delhi-Chennai route. When police asked the protesters to leave, they indulged in stone pelting.The protestors are demanding that the government should present in the Supreme Court the correct figures about the deaths and injuries caused by the tragedy.
