In Madhya Pradesh, the number of tourists visiting different places has doubled in the last four years. Our correspondent reports that Orcha Panchmarhi and Maiher remained the favorite destinations for the tourists.?The total number of tourists visiting Madhya Pradesh was more than two crore twenty three lakh in 2008 which almost doubled to four crore forty three lakh in 2011. However, increase in number of domestic tourists was much more than foreign tourists. The number of domestic tourists in 2008 was about 2 crore 21 lakh, which has increased to 4 crore 41 lakh in 2011. More than 29 lakh 63 thousand tourists visited Orchha in 2011 while nine lakh tourists visited Pachmarhi. Among pilgrimage centres, maximum one crore 18 lakh tourists visited Maihar.
