The Madhya Pradesh government will soon launch a pension scheme for parents who have only daughters. Kick starting the state government’s ‘Beti Bachao Abhiyan’ (Save the girl child campaign) in Bhopal today, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said that the state government is giving final touches to this scheme. Parents of only girl children will get pension after 60 years of age. Mr. Chouhan said that to strike a balance in sex ratio, his government will adopt a three pronged strategy of awareness among the masses, incentives to parents of only daughters and punishment to those who differentiate between girls and boys.Representatives of different communities, non- government organizations and political parties took oath to save the girl child on this occasion. Similar programmes were held at all the district headquarters and legislative assembly segments today. The state government intends to make this campaign a mass movement with the active participation of different sectors.
