MP junior docs’ strike illegal says Gwalior bench

In Madhya Pradesh, the Gwalior Bench of Madhya Pradesh High Court has declared the indefinite strike of junior doctors as illegal. Hearing a petition today, the High Court directed the striking doctors to return to work tomorrow till 10.30 am.Talking to media in Bhopal, state’s Health Minister said that the strike of junior doctors was not in the state’s interest. He said if the junior doctors do not return to work, Essential Services Maintenance Act, ESMA will be implemented strictly.Junior doctors of five government medical colleges in Indore, Jabalpur and Gwalior went on strike on Monday while junior doctors of Bhopal and Rewa joined them today.The state government has imposed ESMA to deal with the strike. Junior doctors are demanding increase in their stipend, reduction in their rural bond period from two years to one year and implementation of Doctors Protection Act.
