MP govt to procure 35 metric tons of wheat on MSP in 2011

In Madhya Pradesh, the state government will procure 35 metric tons of wheat on minimum support price this year. AIR Bhopal correspondent reports wheat procurement will continue till 31st of May. Over eight lakh metric ton wheat has been procured in the state so far since the wheat procurement began on 15th March. The highest quantity of 1 lakh 45 thousand metric ton has been procured in Harda district. In order to stop irregularities in the payment, the state government has introduced a system of directly depositing the amount in bank accounts of farmers. Over one thousand crore rupees have been deposited in the bank accounts of farmers so far. This amount includes bonus paid at the rate of 100 rupees per quintal by the state government. More than 1850 wheat procurement centers have been set up across the state this year.
