Around 304 victims of silicosis in Madhya Pradesh have been given relief and rehabilitation by the state government. The move comes in the response of the National Human Rights Commission's, NHRCs, notices to the state government on the issue. According to an official release, the state government has informed the commission that a state level Silicosis Board has been constituted to tackle the problems. A part from this Medical Examination Board at district and block level and free check-up and treatment is being given to the silicosis patients every week through special camps in the state. Awareness campaigns are also being organized on time to time basis in the silicosis prone areas. The state government also informed that over 33 lakhs have been sanctioned to Shilpi Kendra of Indore by the government to provide rehabilitation to the silicosis affected persons.
