MP govt. endorses schemes to increase banking facilities in rural areas

The Madhya Pradesh government has endorsed a financial incorporation scheme to increase banking facilities in rural areas. AIR Bhopal correspondent reports that the objective of the scheme is to link maximum villages to banking. Under the scheme, a grant would be provided to banks in 2615 villages under Business Correspondence Model in the current financial year. These villages have been allotted to banks after preparing a micro plan for them. For expansion of banking facilities the state government would provide assistance for installation of ATMs. The assistance would be 25 percent of the cost of the machine or one lac rupees whichever is less. The assistance would be provided only when space is available in a government building or Panchayat building for the installation of ATMs.
