In Madhya Pradesh, the honorarium of contractual teachers working in the State will be doubled. In a quarterly review meeting of School Education Department held in the capital Bhopal, Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan took this decision. The increase will incur an additional burden of 51 crore rupees on the state's exchequer. As per the decision, the honorarium of contractual teachers of cadre-3 will be increased from 2,500 to 5,000 rupees while honorarium of teachers under cadre-2 will touch 7,000 from present 3,500 rupees. Contractual teachers of cadre-1, who are presently receiving an honorarium of 4,500, will now get 9,000 rupees. In another decision, the state government has decided to exempt scheduled castes and scheduled tribes students from the condition of returning to India after studies, who visit abroad to imbibe education under the state government's scheme.
