The Madhya Pradesh government has decided to increase dearness allowance of its employees by 6 percent. The state cabinet approved a proposal in this connection in its meeting held in Bhopal today. After this increase, the state employees would get 51 percent dearness allowance. The dearness allowance of panchayat secretaries and teachers working under local bodies would be increased by 10 percent of their basic pay. The increase will be applicable from 1st October this year. The increase will place an annual additional burden of more than 905 crore rupees on the state exchequer.
