The Madhya Pradesh Government has decided to provide land for land to people affected due to Omkareshwar reservoir. Informing this in Bhopal today, Chief minister Shivraj singh Chouhan said that the reservoir will not be filled up-to its full capacity now. Our correspondent reports that affected people agitating in the back water of the reservoir at Ghoghal village of Khandwa district of the state have decided to continue their agitation till the water recedes.State Government has decided to fill the water in this reservoir seven and half meter below than its full capacity. To reduce the water level, 12000 cusec water per second is being released from the reservoir and the level of back water of reservoir is coming down also. Due to releasing of water from the reservoir, the red alert has been issued to the people in low lying areas including Omkareshwar and Maheshwar.State Govt has estimated that the production of 120 Megawatt electricity will be less and irrigation in 20 hectare area will be affected due to low water level. Govt has also decided to provide land for land to people who will return the amount of compensation received under the special package . Except that a five member committee is also constituted to consider the other demands of agitators.
